A historic home gets an eclectic update.
Louisiana’s most famous politician and personality commissioned and aided in the design of this home in 1924. It stayed in the family until the 1970s when a series of new owners began making bad decisions that culminated in a totally gutted shell with leopard print carpet and faux-marbled paint throughout. When restoration began in 2014, careful attention was paid to the historic integrity of the home. Original paint colors and subtle landscape lighting were used to restore the exterior corner-lot grandeur of the home. The interior was updated while keeping the original floor plan intact. The goal of the design was to keep the home livable and fun for a young family who enjoys entertaining. A mix of vintage Scandinavian and American Empire furniture pieces feel perfectly at ease in this historic Mediterranean revival setting.
