Newton Fields Design is the evolution of a dream shared by two friends. We love working with our hands, arranging things, and designing beautiful spaces that inspire creative, joyful living. Our common interests brought us together in Philadelphia in 2011 to co-found Territory Hard Goods, a retail business that sold vintage furniture and home goods. We searched out unique pieces with timeless style, brought them to our workshop for a touch up — or total restoration—and then we'd sell them (or often, keep them).

Eventually life (and overpacked moving trucks) brought us west to new cities and new homes—and new renovation projects. We could only redesign our houses so many times before it became clear that we needed to branch out. And thus, Newton Fields Design was born.

What else do we love? Our families. Our dogs. Music. Sunsets. Food. Road trips. Storytelling. Mother Earth. And spending as much time in nature as possible.

Our design aesthetic reflects that: We are committed to environmentally sustainable home decorating. We like to bring the outdoors inside, creating spaces that feel joyful, comfortable and lived in - not precious. And we believe a great room not only brings people together, but tells a story.

And that's ultimately what we want to help you do: Tell yours.

Laura Fields Thieme

Co-owner, Designer

Based in Los Angeles, Laura is a principal designer and the organization of the organization. Her planning, project management, and spacial planning skills, along with her relentless determination while sourcing can be directly attributed to a childhood spent color coordinating her books and toys, reconfiguring her closet, and taping songs off the radio in order to meticulously transcribe the lyrics. She would drive across Los Angeles in rush hour traffic to track down the perfect side table. Laura has a diverse background in home styling and interior design, working as a prop shopper, set dresser, and photo stylist for television, advertising and e-commerce. Laura also owns Territory Home Goods, an online shop selling global textiles and her own designs. She is a specialist in antique and vintage furniture, textiles, and home decor.

Newt Lynn

Co-owner, Designer

Newt Lynn was born in Louisiana in 1975 to a father who was a farmer and mother who was an interior designer; aesthetic and nature run deep in his veins. After focusing his undergraduate degree on the relationship between our natural and built environments, Newt completed his graduate degree in Architectural Preservation at Tulane University in New Orleans. Newt has a passion for vernacular architecture and loves design that pays attention to function and place. Projects he has directed or participated in include the Master Plan for New Orleans post-Katrina, the Huey P. Long house in Shreveport, Louisiana, the Cavett-Sibley house in Gilliam, Louisiana, the Lynn Plantation Commissary, Gilliam, Louisiana, the Whimbrel House in Venice Beach, California, and the Raven Cafe in Prescott, Arizona. Newt is well-versed in most eras of architecture and design, but if you’re looking for someone to source Victorian wallpaper and furniture, he’s not your guy.
